When pushing for having an F1 track in Austin, city leaders touted the economic benefits for the city. Here's one I hadn't thought of. And this is only one of the nine teams. However, $3700 doesn't seem like that much, when I break $100 every time I go to Costco. Be sure to watch the news video at the link.

[Sahara Force India] chef Dave Freeman and Formula One consultant Tom Webb spent nearly three hours shopping at Costco. In total, they filled 18 shopping carts to the brim with bottled drinks and "essential ingredients," ringing up a grand total of $3,742.10 according to Freeman....

Even though the van used to transport the groceries from the store to the race track was jam packed with supplies, the $3,742.10 only covered food for three days. Freeman says that is just a fraction of the total cost the Sahara Force India team will spend throughout their time in Austin.

"We normally spend about 10,000 pounds per race– that's about $16,000," said Freeman. ( !!!error: Indecipherable SUB-paragraph formatting!!! )

I can't get out of Home Depot for less than $100. The cashiers greet me by name.

I can buy $75 worth of groceries at WallMart and it will last me 2 weeks (college rations being implemented). I need a grocery budget like that...

When you get used to a certain style of living, you expect it. I doubt they serve ramens in the paddock. Well, maybe Caterham does (did).
